What a Week I Had!

I had such an awesome time last week! On Tuesday, I received this:

It's the Versitile Blogger Award! I couldn't believe it! Anne from Wobi Sobi passed it on to me. She has a fabulous blog, be sure to go visit her. Thank you so much, Anne!

Here are the rules.
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award and let the giver know you accept the award.

This was the hard part for me, talking about myself!

1. My favorite color is blue.

2. February and March is a hard time of year for me. My Daddy and Mom died in these months, 13 and 8 years ago. I still miss them horribly. I just know they are in Heaven looking down and so proud (and probably shocked) that I'm doing this blog.

3. I would rather all the kids and grandkids just come over and hang out with us than going out anywhere! I love when we're all together.

4. If I ever win the lottery, I'm taking the whole family to Maui. Greg and I went there for our 30th wedding anniversary and had the time of our lives. Everyone should visit there at least once in their lives.

5. Which leads me to this little fact. I didn't name my blog, Greg did. He nicknamed me Princess when we were in Maui. Actually, when you're in Maui, everyone is a Princess! Well, the girls, at least.

6. I wake up early every morning. Sometimes that's great and other times I hate it. I cannot sleep past 5 as much as I would like to. Please don't tell me it's old age.

7. I love Greg more than life itself, but I have one little thing that he does that drives me crazy! Sometimes during the night when he can't sleep, he gets up to eat ice cream. That's fine, and I never hear him get up, but the next morning I always know he's been to the kitchen. You see, when he starts digging in the freezer, anything in his way gets put on top of the refrigerator and forgets about it! I get to find it there (thawed) the next morning. Lovely, huh?

Okay, now for the easy part. I'm passing this award on to these lovely ladies and their fabulous blogs!

Then just when I thought things couldn't get much better, I was featured on Child Made, Sumo's Sweet Stuff, Sassy Site's and Keeping It Simple! I know it sounds crazy, but I felt like Sally Field in her acceptance speech when she won the Oscar. You like me! You really like me! Now I can put their buttons on my side bar. Thank you again, Sheri, Sumo, Marni, and Kaysi!

Super Saturday!

Wow! Did you see all the fabulous ideas out there this week? My "to do" list is getting out of hand!

I have got to figure out a way to do this with those cardboard circles I have.

She used a tape measure for the closer of this cute little coin purse. Brilliant!

Wouldn't these make the cutest bracelets?

Love this! And better yet, she has an Etsy shop!

Could that be any cuter?

I don't know if I have the patience for this, but I'm pretty sure I could get Jalynn to help me.

Have a fun weekend!

Goodbye, Old Friend

Why do I get so attached to the windows I do? It's not like they're all hanging on my walls. They're all nicely stacked up waiting to be sold.

A friend of ours was telling us about a fundraiser her granddaughters fast pitch softball team was having. It was a Texas Hold-em tournament. Greg wasn't able to go, so I donated this window for their raffle. I don't know why, but this has always been one of my favorites.

That's the only picture I have because it was freezing that day we took it to her. And Greg was honking at me in the car!

Have a terrific weekend!

Sunflower Magnet

Everybody, right now at the same time, put your hand on your head and say,"Why didn't I think of that?". I'm doing the same thing because I didn't think of it. My 12 year old granddaughter, Jalynn, did! She told me she was bored one day and found some old silk sunflowers.

She took that middle brown thing out and glued on a magnet she had.

All she did then was take the other magnet and stuck it to it.

They are now a permanent fixture on my refrigerator! I know I'm her grandma and extremely prejudiced, but isn't she brilliant?

Baseball Wall Hanging

Remember these?

Those are the ones, you know, the elephant in my craft room! It doesn't matter what else I'm working on in that room, my mind is always going back to those cardboard circles. I gave in to Dumbo the other day and made Jace a wall hanging. Jacer is one little awesome baseball player!

I appliqued his name on baseball fabric. I have tons of that fabric! I think I'll make more purses for all of us this summer.

I sprayed a little glue on the cardboard and attached batting.

I basted around the circle and gathered it tight, then hot glued it.

I kept looking at it and thinking it needed a ruffle around the outside. Somehow though, I don't think ruffles and baseball go together so well!

It's Tuesday!

Let the party begin!

Here are this weeks questions from Night Owl Crafting. Click on the button and play along!

Where do you usually have your thermostat set at in the winter?
I think it's at 68, but if I get cold, I turn it up.

What room do you tend to put off cleaning until last?
Our bedroom. I am getting better now though since we painted it and prettied it up.

Do you like to clean with music on or off?
Clean??? What's that?

When do you take time to blog?
Always early in the mornings. Sometimes in the afternoon if Greg is working.

How much time do you spend looking at other blogs a week?
Oh my gosh, I was going to say at least an hour, but I thought the question was how much time in a day. So I guess the answer would be 7. That sounds horrible, doesn't it? Let's just keep that amongst ourselves and not tell Greg!!!

See you tomorrow.

Washer Necklaces

If I'm going to get any other crafting (not to mention cleaning or cooking) done, somebody needs to hide my Dimensional Magic!

It's just too much fun with the stash of washers and paper scraps I have!

All I have to do is Mod-Podge the paper on and them put on the Dimensional Magic. What could be simpler? See, how can I stop?

Super Saturday!

Here's what I decided. Now that I've figured out how to do Linky Parties, I visit and comment on the blogs I love. I want to show you each Saturday all the fabulous finds I found. I'm such a dork that I've been worried and thinking all week if I should do this on Friday or Saturday. Fabulous Fridays??? Super Saturdays??? What is a girl to do?

Isn't that cute? I have all those little pots leftover from Valentine's Day and now know what I'm going to do with them! They'll be a little miniature version.

You all know I just discovered Dimensional Magic, I had no idea that you could add something to the top!

Is that not awesome? I need to head to JoAnns for more Jelly Rolls like I used for my windows!

No family, that is not the name of my blog. Did I ever tell all of you about the time Greg and Jennifer went up and tried to clean out my old craft/junk room? I wouldn't let them throw anything away. They sent me downstairs to play with the kids. It wasn't pretty. But Jennifer, look what she did with that scrap paper! See why you need to save everything! I love these. Wouldn't they be pretty on a package with a magnet on the back so you get two gifts in one?

What can I say? This just screams me!

Have a great weekend!!!

Get Ready To Laugh...

your butt hiney off! Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous had a contest. You had to finish the sentence: You know you're a craftaholic when.... I entered it. I made Greg pull over on the highway on the way to one of Brandon's games when he played football for Emporia State to grab me an orange cone that are always on the road. I wanted to make a Christmas tree using scrap fabric. If you work for the highway department and reading this, no, he didn't do it. If not, yep, we did it!

Please jump over and see her blog. She is awesome! Please, please, please, while you are there, vote for me! I'm #42. I made it to the top 65!

More Family Rules

The first time I made this was Here but I found the most fabulous fabric at JoAnns the other day and just knew I had to make another one. I'm probably the last person on the planet to discover Jellies. They are coordinating strips of fabric that come in a roll. How perfect for this! All you have to do is lay them out and sew them together.

Could that material be any cuter? Love it!

Playing With The Big Girls!

Who are you?

I'm just the little blog that could (or tries) and Leslie at Night Owl Crafting does the most fabulous link on Tuesdays that's called Hoo Are You. She lists questions and we all answer them and link up. This is my first attempt at this, let's see how it goes.

What did you get/give for Valentine's Day?
I got flowers (tulips, my favorite) and they are beautiful.

Do you have a vacation planned in the next couple of months or in the summer?
No, not in the next couple of months or summer. We hope to make a trip with very special people in the fall. Greg and I want to do this and I hope it works out!

What is one thing you do to pamper yourself?
Get my hair done every 5 weeks. Thank you, Marsha! Love you!

What sparks your interest to other people's blogs?
Honestly, just creative ideas. I love to see what other people are doing with the same obsession that I have.

What kind of a mood are you in today?
I'm in a great mood. It doesn't do any good to sit around and be unhappy. Find one thing that makes you happy and do it! I discovered Dimensional Magic and have been playing all day!

Thank you, Night Owl Crafting, for letting me play!

Gift Card Bracelet

Brandon, my sweet son, gave me this for Christmas.

Of course, it didn't take me long to use up the gift card and I made sure I left a few cents on it so they would give it back to me. Then I turned it into this:

I marked the size of the squares and cut it out of the middle of the paper.

It was so much easier doing it that way so I could see what I was tracing.

I tried to get Hobby Lobby where I could and then hearts. I've got to tell you, I was just looking at hearts and not the words around it. You've probably already spotted it, if not, I'll show you later.

There's my 7 little squares. (Still didn't notice.)

Glued them all in.

I filled the squares with Dimensional Magic. This was my first time using that. How fun is it?! You just have to make sure you are very patient and let it dry a day. That was my hardest part, not touching it.

Okay, now I noticed! Look at the first and fifth charms! How in the world did I miss that? Oh well, I still love it and have already worn it a couple of times. I see a necklace and earrings to match in my future. Hey Brandon, Mothers Day is coming soon!

I'm linking to these fabulous parties!

Dolly Bunk Bed

When Krissi was 2 (29 years ago), my dad made this bunk bed for her babies out of walnut.

It's now been passed on to her girls, Triniti and Tierni. My mom had made mattresses, pillows, and quilts for it, but we can't find them. I know I packed them away somewhere safe to save them, just haven't figured out where yet. So I went to work on it.

I made the mattresses and pillows out of an old crib bumper pad.

Isn't that fabric cute? Love it!

The blanket is fleece and flannel. I love pink.

I think this is going to work.

Jordyn saw it and loved that soft fleece and said her babies need a blanket, too. Off to make more. By the way, if Greg doesn't ever let me play with power tools, we may never know if I might have Daddy's woodworking talent.

A Heart for Jordyn

I really don't know what to call this. It's not reverse applique. It's probably faux chenille not done right. I'll explain later. I found a long sleeve navy shirt I bought at Hobby Lobby on sale one time and stuck away. It's Jordyn's size, so she needs a valentine shirt.

Here's what I did.

I cut out 5 layers of the heart pattern I made.

I marked the top heart with lines about 3/4" apart and then pinned the 5 layers to the front of the shirt.

I sewed down the lines but not around the hearts.

Now you start cutting between all the stitches. I cut all 5 layers because I wanted to see the navy between the rows. If you were doing faux chenille, you wouldn't cut the bottom layer. By the way, if you don't have one of these nifty (nifty? What old lady just said that?) scissors, you need to run, don't walk to JoAnns and buy a pair. I bought them when I started doing rag quilts and don't know how I lived without them.

All cut up, throw in the washer so it gets all raggy looking.

We took this picture right after I finished it so it hadn't been washed yet.
