Zip-Itself Coin Purse

I found this tutorial at Craft Passion and thought it was just too darn cute not to try. Here's mine:

My intention was to make these for all the girls' stockings for Christmas.
Not going to happen!

I printed out the instructions and sat at the sewing machine with them. She sewed hers by hand, and maybe that's what my problem was. I did mine on the machine with a zipper foot.

It really is so fun. It unzips like that and then zips right back up into the little purse.

I'm showing you this one, but not the 5 I ruined before it. It was a war that day between me and the zipper, but I at least won one battle!

Needless to say, the girls are not getting these in their stockings. After Christmas, I might try them again. Maybe Easter baskets would be a better idea!

A Couple of Blogging Tips

I hope you never have to use this, but just in case it happens to you, I wanted to let you know what I did. One morning last week I got up and turned on the computer and went to my innocent little craft blog and...

OH, MY GOSH!!!

Right there in the followers for all the world to see was the grossest porn I've ever seen! Not that I've seen that much of it, but this was gross!! After I picked myself up off the floor, I went to blogger help to figure out how to get rid of it. In other words, how to delete a follower. Here's all you have to do:

When you are on your dashboard, click on your followers. That will bring up the whole list.
Click on the follower you want to get rid of and when it comes up, click on "Block this user".

That's all there is to it. I'm so sorry if any of you saw anything last week before I had a chance to delete it!

While I was looking around on blogger help, I found out how to number comments without having to mess with your HTML code for your blog. Here's the link. This way is so simple because you just add an HTML gadget. It worked perfect for me. There is one thing, though. When you copy the code they give you the last word says: </script>>    You need to take off that extra > at the end of script.

Happy Monday!

Super Saturday!

Before we get to our Top 5 this week, I need to apologize. I wanted so badly to e-mail all of you who left such sweet and kind comments this past week. With my birthday, Thanksgiving, and Black Friday, I just haven't had the time. Please accept this apology and huge thank you from the bottom of my heart! Greg even said (besides the fact that I know how to milk a birthday) that I really do have true blogging friends. I guess before he thought I just made you all up! You know, my imaginary world and all (29??? Who am I kidding? Two of my kids are older than that!). So...here is a big hug to each and every one of you and Thank You!!

Now, on to our Superstars!

Placemat Purse

Yep, that's a placemat.

I found them marked down to $1.00 at Wal-Mart and loved the colors. Unfortunately, they didn't match anything in my dining room!

I started by finding the middle and then marking and sewing 2 straight lines 2 1/4" from the middle.
This just helps the sides fold up straight.

I took velcro strips and sewed them inside the two lines. Sew the top half of the velcro to the bottom of your purses. I just kind of winged the purses and was shocked when they came out perfect. As soon as I figure out exactly what I did, I'll show you how I made them. You really could use any purse pattern you have, just make sure they're not wider on the bottom than 2".

I used cotton webbing for the handles (15" strips).

Cut 2 strips of ribbon 15" long and be sure to burn the edges so it doesn't fray.

Then sew the ribbon between the handles on both sides.

Your purses attach to the velcro side by side.

While I'm writing this post and looking at the pictures, now I'm thinking it would really make a cute lunch bag. Your own placemat built right in!

I'll be joining these fabulous parties this week.

Stocking Stuffers: Key Fobs

It's official, I've started making things for Christmas. I've got some big projects in the works, but started with stocking stuffers.

I know you've seen these all over blogland lately and I thought they'd be perfect little gifts to have on hand.

I used 1" nylon webbing, ribbon, and a strip of Wonder Under all cut to 10".

Iron the Wonder Under to the webbing and then iron the ribbon over it.

Then just sew down both sides.

I ordered the 1" hardware from this Etsy shop. I found that handy dandy tool thing at Hobby Lobby. The rubber on the end keeps it from scratching the metal when you squeeze it closed.

I did find that if I hot glued the webbing to the metal first, it was much easier to keep in place as you're squeezing it shut.

Don't forget, tomorrow is the big giveaway!

Super Saturday!

Happy weekend! Did last week fly by or what? I actually started Christmas shopping so I think I might start putting the Christmas stuff up. Greg's working all weekend so it's probably a good time to start. He would probably prefer I do something like laundry, but that wouldn't be near as much fun!

With Thanksgiving next week, I'm going to start It's a Party on Wednesday morning instead of Thursday (just for next week).

On Tuesday, I'm having a giveaway that I think you'll be drooling over! I can't wait!

Now, on to the good stuff!

Here are our Top 5 most viewed links from last week's It's a Party.

Give Thanks

This is my last Thanksgiving post, I've got to get moving on to Christmas stuff. I don't know what I was thinking, but I even signed on for a craft show the first of December!

I'm back on my Scrabble Tile kick, so of course I had to use them!

I just love these little $1.00 frames from Michaels. I usually always pick up a couple when I'm in there.

I painted the frame and then mod-podged paper on it and the cardboard piece in the center.

Added some ribbon and a sticker.

I found it's easier to glue the tiles together first and then glue the whole piece on the project.

Okay, now I'm going to go put Christmas music on and get working on Christmas projects!

I'll be linking Here this week.
