Pinterest Bucket List

Don't fall out of your chair, but I actually did my first project from my Pinterest Bucket List that I told you about last week! It was the American Girl Sleeping Bag that Melissa did at Love Bug Living. I was making it for Jordyn and I thought it should match her rag quilt I made her for Christmas.

I used Melissa's measurements, but made mine with flannel and batting, used ribbon to tie instead of elastic (I didn't have any and didn't want to make a trip to JoAnn's), and made a built in pillow.

I cut the pillow piece 6" x 5" and ironed in the short ends and one long end. Ignore the pencil marks. I must have marked that for something else to make and obviously, didn't use it.

I folded the inside fabric in half and pinned the pillow in the middle.

First I sewed the pillow on, leaving the top open. I stuffed it and then sewed it shut. Then just follow the rest of Melissa's tutorial.

It turned out perfect and Jordyn is going to love it!

A little someone, named Tierni, was here that day I made it and told me her Sleeping Beauty Barbie needed a sleeping bag, too. What's a grandma to do?

Whip up another one!

For Barbie, I cut my fabric 18" x 15" and the pillow part, 6" x 4".

It seemed big as I was making it, but it worked out great.

It rolls up so darn cute!

I don't want to say anything to Tierni (she's only 4), but doesn't Sleeping Beauty Barbie look a little spooky? What's up with her neck and right hand?

Easiest Dollar Store craft...

EVER!!

With everything going south around here lately, I decided maybe we needed a little green luck!

I made a trip to the Dollar Store and picked up some garland and stuffed it into a liquor bottle from my stash.

I also grabbed shamrock ornaments and one of those table decorations. I took the concrete block out of the bottom of it and

stuffed it in the top of the bottle. Glue the ornaments to a cord or ribbon and that's it!

I sure hope those shamrocks help!

I'm sure you noticed my blog went all white yesterday. The Blog Designer who did my blog lost her server which meant I lost my design. She's back up now and hopefully it's permanently fixed! I hate being so helpless, but there was nothing I could do on my end. I think I'll e-mail her and find out if there's something I can do to store it. Anyway, I'm baaaack!

Huge Craft Fail! Thread Holder

Get ready, this is ugly!

I'm just trying to keep it real here, and that mess is for real. For now.

It started out good in my head. I found that drawer front somewhere and had it stuck away. I thought it would make a great thread holder for the wall, but wanted to distress it first.

Yeah, distressing does NOT work on cheapo laminate wood! Why I didn't stop right there and give up, I'll never know, but I kept on going.

I took out my frustration on it by hammering a million (maybe not quite that many) nails in it.

Added some jute and hung the ugly thing on the wall.

Don't worry, it won't stay that way, but I was sick of messing with it for now.

I'm thinking it needs polka dots.

Itty Bitty Charm Bracelets

When I've been out shopping lately, it seems every store I go into has little charm bracelets just made out of cord and a charm. They're all cute, but are anywhere from $6.00 to $10.00 a piece! Are you kidding me? Everybody, say it together, "We can make those"!

And you can! I bought the Hemp cord and charms at Hobby Lobby. The cord comes in a package with different colors. The hardest part was figuring out the slip knot so they are adjustable.

You start by adding your charm to the middle of the cord. Now it's time for the slip knots.

You'll find a much better explanation on Google somewhere, but I'll try (bad pictures and all).

You start with one end and cross it over the top.

Then you wrap it under and back over and into the circle you created.

Please don't judge those fingers, I'd been scraping wallpaper that day!

Pull it tight and do the same thing with the other end.

There you go, easy peasy!

Be warned though, it's hard to stop once you start!

My hand model had not been scraping wallpaper that day.

She was a little busy eating SpongeBob yogurt!

You all don't know how much I need this party. I haven't written a post about it yet, because I just can't, but I wanted to let you all know what we're going through. Our Desi, (one of our dogs that are 12 years old, but we still call them "our puppies") died Sunday. Someday I'll tell you all about it, but for now, just know that we are all grieving. It's funny, we let these little 4 legged "God's blessings" into our lives and they become part of the family. The one that Greg and I are worried about now is Gage (her brother) and doing everything we can to get him to act like his old self again! Please don't let anyone ever tell you that dogs don't know and grieve!

Pinterest Bucket List

You may remember one of my blogging resolutions was to actually start making something that I've pinned. Since it's the end of February, I better get started!

I think I've come up with a fun way to challenge myself to do this each week.

First let me show you what I'll be making.

Melissa from Love Bug Living made this adorable American Girl Doll (or any kind of doll) sleeping bag and I pinned it. Jordyn was looking at my pin boards one day and asked why I hadn't made it for her, yet. Yep, this better be my first project!

Here's the fun part! I'll be doing a different project each week and showing you mine the following week. If you ever want to play along and make your own version, I would love for you to! I finally crocheted something!

I really did, look!

Now I know to all of you, this is no big deal, but to a person who was ready to throw the yarn and hook out the window, it's a pretty big deal!

You all know I started a crochet class for 3 weeks and this was the first week. I really screwed the outside of it up and it's supposed to be a coaster, but mine is for a really big glass!

Lesson 2: The Granny Square

I got bored last week and once I figured out the double crochet, I made the scarf. Too bad it's in the 50's around here now. By the way, Greg is still making fun of me!
