Quick & Easy Luau Necklace

My two favorite things...

quick and easy!

I started to make Jordyn washer necklaces for her to give the girls at her birthday party, but as usual, changed my mind.

While I was searching for "beachy" paper to cover the washers with, I found that paper and decided it was too cute and would work perfect on something besides a washer.

I had a package of wooden nickels so I painted them blue.

I cut out the palm trees and flip flops and mod-podged them to the disc.

Use E-6000 glue and add the bail to the back. Because so many people ask me, I get my bails at Hobby Lobby. I've found these round ones work the best.

Add a cord and bead and it's finished. These are perfect for little party gifts, they hardly cost anything to make. Oh so cute! And the necklace isn't half bad either!

It's Hawaii Week!

That's right, it's Hawaii Week here at A Creative Princess in honor of Jordyn's birthday. You see, Jennifer had the most fabulous Luau Party for her last Friday night and there are so many things to show you, I decided to just fill the whole week with different projects from it.


Don't worry, It's a Party will still go on as usual on Thursday (we may need a break by then!). Tomorrow I'll have a tutorial on the necklaces that I made. On Wednesday, we'll have Flip Flop Cookies and a t-shirt refashion and on Friday, I can't wait to show you the t-shirts that I made for all the girls. You really don't want to miss Friday, the game that Jennifer did with the shirts was a mega hit with all the little girls!! So much fun!


Okay, no more "blah, blah, blah" from me, I'll just end this post with a few pictures from the party.

Super Saturday!

If you need me today, I'll be up in my craft room. Greg is working all day and I don't have any little kiddo's here, so it's time to spend the day finishing all those craft projects I have started. I keep telling myself I'm not going to get side-tracked up there today and start anything else until that craft table is cleaned up and projects finished. Yeah, I know, wish me luck!

A Place for Barbie & all her Stuff

The kids' playroom here has turned into a disaster area this summer! I mean it's bad. Really bad! I walked in there the other day and realized something had to be done. I'm thinking it might help to have different storage containers or boxes for all the Barbie's, Strawberry Shortcake, Polly Pockets, etc. and maybe things wouldn't get so out of control. I started with Barbie.

I've got a long way to go with everything else, but at least Barbie and all her stuff is in one place now.

Triniti helped me and we started with that old Barbie book.

While I took the box outside and painted it white, Trin started cutting pictures out of the book.

Then we randomly mod-podged them on the sides of the box.

I used fabric mod-podge for the ribbon around the top.

I wasn't sure if it would work with ribbon or not, but it's still sticking.

I covered the flaps like I did here, I just didn't add the batting this time.

I covered elastic and put it around the outside so Barbie and her friends could all stand up around the box on the shelf.

Now as we clean the room and find their clothes, they'll go in the box.

Okay, Barbie's done. Polly Pockets, you're next.

Why I've been a bad blogger this summer.

My intention was to sit and write a whole post about why I've been such a slacker in the blogging world all summer. Then I decided it would be much easier to just do it in pictures.

Okay, I won't bore you with anymore pictures, but I think you get the idea. I'm so sorry I've been such a slacker, but this summer has been quite a ride. Greg and I have spent every moment we can with that awesome family we have. I really wouldn't want it any other way.

School starts in a couple of weeks and life will slow down a little.

Mega Craft Fail!!

Sometimes I have the greatest ideas in my head...

and they turn out like that! What the...??

It all started when Hobby Lobby had their canvas on sale for 50% off and

I found a huge bag of crayons at a garage sale for a quarter.

I started this disaster by gluing the crayons to the top of the canvas.

I cut a sunflower shape out of vinyl using my Cameo and stuck it on the canvas. Then I took a hair dryer and started melting the crayons.

Well, that worked well. Said with all the sarcasm I can muster up.

I tried to save it by adding all the jute (because I hate losing). It didn't help much, but I'm hoping when I get it on the wall in my craft room with everything hanging with it, you won't notice what a mess it is.
