Another Lamp Upcycle

Sometimes all it takes is a little spray paint to...

save a lamp from the graveyard in the attic or basement.

I had this hanging by my sewing machine in my craft room and since I got new lighting for in there, I didn't need it anymore.

We recently bought new furniture for the family room and I ended up with a love seat that could use a small light above it.

So Sunday the light came down and I grabbed the spray paint and headed outside.

Let there be (a new) light!

The "Never Let Your Kids..." canvas doesn't show up well in the other photos.
It's Here, if you want to see it up close and personal.

I scored that "Laugh..." wall hanging at Old Time Pottery for $7.50. Yeah, that was my lucky day!
The "Loved you yesterday..." canvas is Here.

Now, (if you don't mind) I need to vent. It was 80 degrees here in Missouri yesterday and again today. I just listened to the weather for the rest of the week and it's supposed to snow on Thursday!
What the &%$@*!!!

I'm Mat (doormat)

I've seen this all over Pinterest for a long time and always wanted to make one.

I finally did it last week!

One of the reasons I put it off for so long was because I wanted to cut the stencil for my letters using my Cameo and I didn't know how to cut longer than 24" and I was lazy and didn't want to take the time to sit and figure it out.
(That was the longest sentence ever!)

It was so easy, I can't believe I was so scared to try!

You have to make sure you click "None" for Cutting Mat and that you are on "Landscape".

Then you just put in your own Width and Height for whatever size you need.

I was out of contact paper, so I used regular vinyl. Weed the letters out and use the big piece as the stencil. I had to remember to keep the inner part of the "A" and stick it on, too.

I use a dobber sponge instead of a brush and it really keeps the edges crisp (even on a rug).
I used fabric paint so it's washable.

Here's my problem. I love it and don't want to put it in front of the door and have people walk on it and get it dirty! I know, crazy, huh?

Have an awesome Monday. It's supposed to be 80 degrees here today.
I'm going outside!

Spring Frame Wreath

You may remember the Easter Frame Wreath that I made. I was walking in the house the other day and decided it really needed to come down off the front door. (Ya think?!)

I really love the frame, so I just took off the Easter eggs and added a rolled paper flower to the middle.

I took a piece of scrap paper (8 1/2 x 11), cut it square, and then cut it into 4 smaller squares.

Roll it into a cone shape and tape the end to hold it.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who sticks the coasters from restaurants in my purse instead of using it on the table. Anyway, you're going to use that (or something like it) to glue the cones on.

Now start gluing them all on to fill in all the empty space and...

add a cute button in the middle.

You can't see it, but I glued a piece of jute to the coaster and then to the frame so that it would hang in the middle.

Happy Friday!

It's a Party #103

Welcome to the party! I'm so happy you're here!

I'm frantically trying to get our bedroom and family room cleaned out and deep cleaned because we've got new furniture coming on Friday. Why we bought 2 rooms of furniture and had them both delivered the same day is beyond me! (Hey, I never said we were the brightest crayons in the box.)

While I'm knee deep in dust, I think it would be a good idea to start a party.
I could use a break!

Link up anything you want to share with us this week. It can be your fabulous craft, yummy recipe, giveaway, shop, etc.

I'll feature the Top 5 most viewed links next Wednesday.

I would love for you to follow A Creative Princess while you're here!

If you would like to grab an It's a Party button (on the sidebar) and post it on your blog somewhere, that would be great! Let's get the word out and grow this party.
The more the merrier!

We all love comments, so please visit other links and have fun!

Hits of the Party!

Happy Wednesday!

We had another great party last week. Thank you all for linking up!

How about we take another look at a few of the great hits of the party?

This Basket Lamp from My vintage window is one of the cutest things I've seen in a long time!

Who, besides me, wants to take a bite out of the screen when you look at these Lemon Pie Bars that Judy of Cranberry Morning made? YUM!!

All of the Grungy Grad Jewelry that Rena from Jewelry Making Journal  made would make any graduate happy to receive. I love all of them!

Did you check out the secret ingredient that is in Crystelle Boutique's DIY Chalk Paint? This is perfect for me because I've never made my own chalk paint because I didn't want to buy a whole box of Plaster of Paris. I'll be making some now!

These Shabby Striped Stools from Denise...on a whim are absolutely adorable!

Have an awesome day and I'll see you back here later this afternoon for this week's party.

In the meantime, I'm going to be trying to stencil on a door mat. Wish me luck.

A Beachy Necklace

A friend of mine was having a beach themed day at her work and ask me if I had any "beachy" washer or domino necklaces. I didn't, but it only took me about 10 minutes to whip her up one to wear.

Seriously, 10 minutes max!

I had these shapes and...

this paper.

I used the sand dollar and mod-podged it to the circle shape. We have a ton of the shell lei's from our trips to Hawaii, so I added a jump ring and attached it to the lei.

Because I didn't have 24 hours for Dimensional Magic to dry, I just used a couple of coats of Mod Podge over the top.

Now that I'm looking at this necklace, and it's supposed to snow here today, I think we should make a trip back to Hawaii for more lei's.

Oh Greg...I've got a great idea!

Rainbow Heart Bracelet and Ring

One of my favorite places to find craft supplies is Wholeport

Besides all of your basic supplies, they also have a ton of unique items that you just can't find anywhere else. Like the hearts in this bracelet.

Wholeport recently sent me a package of these bright and cheery cabochons
Since I know a few little girls that would love them, I got right to work.

I had that bracelet and ring in my stash and the hearts fit both of them perfectly.

I used E-6000 and glued the hearts in the squares and on top of the ring base. Then added Dimensional Magic to the bracelet.

These cabochons come in a package of 10. Wouldn't they make great little party gifts?

Saturday Showcase

If you're looking for a Mother's Day, Teacher, or even a Keep for Yourself gift, check out Angela's Homemade Lemon Facial Scrub at Hickory Trail

I've made Facial Scrubs before, but this recipe is so much simpler and I'm definitely going to try this one. And who doesn't love lemon?!

Have a great weekend!

Burlap Ribbon Curtains

These were probably the easiest curtains I've ever made.

I wasn't planning on making curtains, but like I told you the other day, I get side-tracked a lot.

I made those simple candle wraps and then decided the little fireplace needed a table runner.

I used burlap ribbon and still had a lot leftover. By the way, I'm thinking that stuff might be the greatest thing ever invented. It's so much easier than cutting burlap.

I used the different sizes of the ribbons to fit the windows and just sewed them together. I hemmed the bottom and folded it over and sewed at the top for the tension rod to go through.

They're long enough to cover the window when they're down, but with another tension rod, you can shorten them to any length. Simply fold the bottom up over the other rod.
(Our neighbor needs to get some flowers planted for me to look at!)

I love the fact that they're not dark and you can still kind of see out.

These are up with one other tension rod in the middle, but if you add more rods, you could have the look of roman shades.
(Placemats are Here.)

At one time we had vertical blinds there and I never got around to taking that plastic valance down. I figured why do it now, just add Laugh, Love, Lunch that I cut out with my Cameo.
If anyone asks, I planned it that way, okay?

Have an awesome Friday!
