Canvas Tote Bag

Hi. I'm TOTE, and I'm a bag.

Just so there is no doubt about this bag, it even says TOTE on the front.

I'm trying to use up some of the fabric in my stash and recently found that chevron canvas.

I made the bag the exact same way as I did my Pleather Tote (Here).

Except for this one, I appliqued TOTE on the front.

I'm hoping that one day the sun will shine and it will get warm outside so I can take a decent photo again!

Happy Friday!

Wedding Update: Bridesmaid Boxes

Although it might seem that way, this really isn't Box Week here on ACP.

While I was making Savings Boxes, Christina was making gift boxes to ask 6 of her friends to be bridesmaids. It must be true, great minds think alike!

(These photo's aren't the best. They were either taken from a phone or one evening here at our house.)

She found these boxes at Michael's and put each girl's initial on the top.

Then she decorated the inside of the lid, personalized for each one of her friends.

You may have already figured it out, but the bridesmaid dresses are going to be royal blue.

For the Maid of Honor.

And of course, inside the box...

was filled with lots of fun (and mostly blue) items.

Aren't these fun?!

Savings Boxes

We're going on a big vacation next year and need to start saving now.

And by saving, I mean, every last dime.

I needed something to throw money found around the house in, like loose change and money found in the washer (which becomes mine if I find it!).

Michael's has these memory boxes on sale a lot and I try to pick up a few whenever I'm there and they're half off. They're perfect for gift boxes at Christmas and it's actually a box that you can use and not just throw away after unwrapping.

I grabbed a couple out of the attic and decorated them and they work perfect for my Savings Boxes.

The great thing about this one is that once we get back, I can actually use the box for what it was intended for and store our photo's in it.

I didn't stop there. I always see the Money Saving Challenge popping up in January and decided that we would give it a try this year.

So I made a box for that, too.

I found the printable with the weeks and amounts on it Here.

I used chalkboard paper to print it out on so that I could mark off the weeks and then erase it next year and start over.

The only thing I forgot to add when I made these is that I should have put a lock on them!

Have a great Monday!

Pleather Tote

I don't know why, but all of a sudden, I'm on a tote bag kick.

Last week as I was looking at pleather that I had left over and wondering what to do with it, it hit me, a tote bag. I had a little of brown and a little of black, so I combined the two.

I cut both pleather pieces 14" wide and 8 1/2" tall (twice).
The (2) lining (fused with interfacing) was 14" wide and 16" tall.

Cut a 2" square out of the bottom pleather pieces and the linings in the bottom corners.

After I sewed the 2 pleather pieces together, I stitched down both sides of the seam (it helps hold it down). The picture on the left shows this. It's the back, it was easier to see there.

Sew the front pleather to the back pleather down the side and bottom.

Match your seams in the corners and stitch across.

I used cotton webbing for the handles (24").

Position them where you want them on the front and back of the pleather and stitch inside the seam line.

If you want a pocket, sew it to your lining piece and then sew your lining together the same as you did the outer pleather, but leave a opening on the bottom for turning.

Insert your outer piece (right side out) down in the lining and sew across the top.

Turn everything through the opening you left.
Stitch the opening closed after turning.

Push the lining down into the bag and stitch around the top.

The tote stood pretty well on it's own, but for added stability, I covered a 4" x 9" piece of cardboard and put it in the bottom.

That lining fabric, I've had in my stash for years.
Don't you love it? I don't know why I haven't used it before now.

Happy Friday!

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who takes the time to link up each week. I love seeing what everyone is doing!

Don't you hate those days when you have tons of errands to run and it takes up half your day? That's what I've been doing all day and it wasn't even fun. I didn't even get to stop in at Hobby Lobby. Now that's a shame!

New to my Etsy Shop

I made a promise to myself that this year I was going to make sure my Etsy shop didn't get neglected any longer and get it stocked back up. I've been so lax about it and that's going to change.

So to start, I added clutch/wristlet's last week.

I love the size of these because they fit in my purse and I can pull it out if I don't want to lug my whole purse around.

I've had several requests for this since I made Christina's and finally have a few finished.

Then while I was on a roll, I started picking out all of my favorite fabric.

If you saw the purse I shared yesterday (Here), then you know I really love that fabric!

I'm working on a couple of purses and tote bags this week.
Stay tuned.
