Blast from the Past: Coke Can Wreath

This was one of my favorite wreaths that I've made. Ever.

Since the 4th of July is this Friday, I thought it would be worth repeating. Which reminds me that I still have a bag of the coke cans left in the craft closet. I need to get to work with them and make a wreath that I can leave out all year long!

Have a fabulous Monday!

Easy Interchangeable Necklace

This was made especially for those of us who can never seem to make up our mind.

Although, now I'm going to have a problem with making a choice!

Let me show you how easy this was to make.

Even though I don't "scrapbook", I love going through the scrapbook section at the craft stores.

I found this sticker set by idea-ology at JoAnn's and it came with all the heart charms and stickers. It even had epoxy stickers in the package, but I didn't use them.

After I put the stickers in the charms, I added Dimensional Magic to seal them instead of the epoxy stickers. I'm sure they work fine, but I'm always afraid they're going to fall out.
Better safe with Dimensional Magic than sorry later.

Add rings to all the charms and put on your ball chain and you're ready to go!

I had the cardboard heart box, but wouldn't this make a cute stocking stuffer (even though I really don't want to start thinking about Christmas already)?

It would be so cute in a Altoid box that you could paint and decorate with the extra stickers.
(Note to self: save Altoid boxes and remember this at Christmas time!)

It's a Party! #164

Welcome to the party!

Thank you so much for taking the time to come by!

Can you believe the 4th of July is next week already? Where is this summer going? And why is it going so fast? It seems like we are always going non-stop and I keep telling myself that there will be plenty of time to clean this house of mine this winter when we're snowed in again for months. Funny thing is, I'm actually listening to myself and I really don't care!

I haven't been doing a whole lot of crafting lately, but I've got a couple of ideas that the kiddo's and I are going to work on tomorrow. It involves glow in the dark spray paint so it's going to get messy (and fun)!

What have you all been doing? It's time to get this party started so you can show it off.

If you missed the features this morning, they're Here.

Link up anything you want to share with us this week. It can be your fabulous craft, yummy recipe, giveaway, shop, etc.

I'll feature the Top 5 most viewed links next Wednesday. I started a board on Pinterest where I pin all of the fabulous features. You can follow along Here.

I would love for you to follow A Creative Princess while you're here!

4th of July Snack Ideas

The 4th of July is extra special at our house. It's also Greg's birthday and is an all day event with the family, which means there's a lot of eating going on.

I was on Pinterest this weekend looking for new snack ideas that are both easy to make and easy to grab and walk away with. And of course, red, white, and blue!

Here are a few that I found and will probably have on the 4th.

Party Jello

Pizza Pasta Salad

Berry Patriotic

Posh Piggies

Individual Veggie's and Dip

I think this idea of individual cups is brilliant!
Why didn't I think of that?!

Have a great Monday!

Cedar Shim Flag

I always like to hang something rustic on our gates of the privacy fence during holidays.

This year, if you drop by on the 4th, you'll see a couple of cedar shim flags.

I'm a sucker for anything that's by the check out when I'm waiting in line. The last time I was at Home Depot, they had this package of cedar shims and it was only $3.00. Sold!

I actually had the paper left from a pvc pipe flag that I made a couple of years ago.
You can see it Here.

I mod-podged it to each shim.

I hot glued craft sticks to hold it all together.

It's hard to really see in photo's, but I rubbed a little stain on top for even more of a rustic look and glued jute on the back to hang.

I love the look of the shims getting smaller on one end, kind of like the flag is waving.

Have a great weekend!

It's a Party! #163

I know it's early, but welcome to the party!

I didn't intend to be (I would have told you), but you may have noticed that I've been MIA all week.

What have I been doing, you ask?

Loving every minute of it! You see, I've been spending my time with my grandchildren. Also, it's summer and there is so much to do besides sitting on the computer!

I never said it here on the blog, but I've had some heart problems the last couple of months and have been through tons of tests. We found out that everything is fine and my heart is healthy, just jumps around a lot. I was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia and taking a prescription for it and it really has helped. I feel lucky and blessed that that's all it was. I was so scared for so long with no answers that now, I just want to have fun!

What I'm trying to tell you is, if this summer you don't hear from me for a few days, I'll be back. I always will. I'm just away for a little bit having fun with this family of mine and I wouldn't change that for the world! I'm still crafting and I've got tons of things to show you. I even had Jalynn, Jordyn, and Jace grab some rocks today when we left a restaurant for a craft project I've got in mind for us to do together.

I need to get busy with 4th of July stuff. I did make a flag out of cedar shims the other day. I'll show it to you on Friday. In the meantime, let's party!

Clay Pot Birdbath

I made my mom and dad one of these many, many years ago and had kind of forgotten about it.

Until this year when I had a couple of big clay pots that I wasn't using, so I decided it was time for me to make me a birdbath.

I used a sponge to apply green paint first and then added in the yellow and ivory.

It took me forever to find a huge saucer for the top, but finally Home Depot got more in and I found it there. I'm thinking it was 16".

I used a super strong silicone rubber glue (that Greg had) to glue the two pots together and then the saucer to the top. That sucker is not coming apart!

For just a small added touch, I wrapped jute around the top and bottom rim.

My husband is so proud of himself when he comes up with something "creative", so I've got to tell you that it was his idea to put the smaller saucer of bird food inside the big saucer with the water. You know, a bird buffet line!

The whole thing has actually found a home in the backyard, but we've had rain for a solid week and it's a mess back there. Believe me, you don't want to see it! You're welcome.

Happy Friday!

It's a Party! #162

Welcome to the party!

Is everyone ready for Father's Day this Sunday? Greg made it easy for me this year and bought his own present. New golf clubs. That's great because I don't know the first thing about golf and wouldn't even know what to buy. Now, what to fix for dinner that day...

I've been kind of busy working on my biggest craft project ever. I'm going to mount Brandon's high school and college football jerseys in a case for him to hang in his sports room at their new house. Have any of you ever done that? I think I've figured out how to do it and have all the supplies I need and hope to have it all finished in a few days. I'm so excited to give it to him and hope I can pull this off.

Now it's time for you to show off all your latest and greatest!

Wine Cork Coasters

Although he wasn't going to admit it, Greg needed coasters in his man cave.

I did what every other crafty wife would do.
I made him some.

Out of wine corks.

As I'm writing this post, I just realized that I've never shown you the whole reveal of his man cave. As soon as it quits raining and that room isn't so dark, I'll get some photo's taken.

These were simple to make and took all of about 5 minutes.

I used hot glue and glued two corks together first and then glued the whole thing together.

You wouldn't need to, but I cut a square out of restaurant coasters and glued it on the back.

Wine corks come in all different sizes so I found it easier to use 8 of all the same ones.
It made a nicer square.

Perfect for holding his redneck glasses!

Those glasses are made with canning jars and a glass candlestick from the dollar store.
I used E-6000 to glue them together.

Have a great Tuesday!
