Reclaimed Pallet Kitchen Island

Who would ever think that you could make a kitchen island out of an old dresser?
Andrea from Scrapality did and it's amazing!

Fall Mantel and Mini Banners

With everything going on around here, I haven't had too much time for decorating.

But, I did manage to get a little bit up on the mantel to celebrate Fall.

I had some of the fabric left from my Fall Banner, so I decided to use it on burlap that I had from last year to make a couple of "mini" banners.

All I did was applique the scarecrow and sunflower to the burlap.
Easy peasy!

I glued buttons to the top of thumbtacks to hang them.

My candle lantern still said "Happy Spring", so I thought I better change it, too.

The Folded Star Pumpkin hanging in the middle is from last year.
You can see how I made it Here.

Happy Fall, y'all!

It's a Party! #177

Hello, my friends, welcome to the party!

It probably wouldn't be the start of this party if I didn't give you a wedding update. We're heading toward the finish line and I just have a few more projects to wrap up. Poor Greg has learned to just ignore all the piles that are sitting around the house. They're all little things that need a few more touches and he knows not to move anything! It's my own organized mess and will all be gone soon. He also learned this week that he is NOT to touch the Royal Mints or the nuts that are sitting on the kitchen table!

Besides all the wedding stuff, I did manage to get the Fall Banner done for the front door.

That window had me stumped, but I think this works. I loved making the letters, I'll have to do more of those for other occasions.

I also worked on our fireplace mantel and made a couple of "mini" banners. I'll show you those on Friday.

Did you see the features this week? They were awesome!

Scarecrows from Interior Design Blog
Candy Corn Popcorn Balls by Saving with Shellie
Wine Rack Craft Room Organization from The Thrifty Rebel

Reminder: For the next few weeks, I will have features Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The party will start on Wednesday afternoon and I'll have a craft to share with you on Friday. Things are crazy around here with Brandon and Christina's wedding coming up and this really helps me out.
Everything will be back to normal the first of October.

Link up anything you want to share with us this week. It can be your fabulous craft, yummy recipe, giveaway, shop, etc.

I'll feature the Top 5 most viewed links next Wednesday. I started a board on Pinterest where I pin all of the fabulous features. You can follow along Here.

Wine Rack Craft Room Storage

I owe Tuula from The Thrifty Rebel a huge thank you for linking up this awesome idea to last week's It's a Party!

Her Wine Rack Craft Room Storage that's made out of an old wine rack and Pringles cans.
Pure genius!

I'm a self proclaimed hoarder crafter, so I have a ton of those cans and all I need to do now is run to Goodwill and find a wine rack. I can't tell you how excited I am!
(Yes, it's the little things in life that make me happy.)

Have a Happy Hump Day and I'll see you back here later this afternoon for this week's party!

Celebrating Fall with Scarecrows

Happy Fall!

I can't think of a better way to celebrate the first day of fall than a whole post of scarecrows from Interior Design Blog.

They are all adorable! My favorite is the Pumpkin Patch with the little girl in pigtails.

Thank you, Vidya, for linking up to It's a Party and sharing all these little guys with us!

You can visit Interior Design Blog to see all of them.

Fall Banner

I finally got around to starting on a few Fall decorations.

First up...

A banner for the front door. Since we got the new door last summer, I haven't hung anything on it. I really didn't know what to do with the oval glass. Until now.

This cute (if I say so myself) little banner seems to work.

I had this small piece of fabric left from last year and I've always loved it, so wanted to use it.

I printed out the letters and cut the inside of them out and then traced them onto the fabric, trying to find images that would work with the letters.

To stabilize it, I used a stiff stabilizer for the front piece and fusible medium interfacing for the back, which was tan flannel.

With the front and back wrong sides together, I stitched around the letter tracing that I did earlier. Don't worry about the pencil marks, they come right off with an eraser.

Okay, here's my one little tip that will change your life. Well, maybe not that extreme, but it will make your life a lot easier. When I stitched around the letters, I used an open foot so I could see the lines as I was going. That's the same foot that I use when I applique and I wouldn't even attempt to applique without it.

After you've sewn around the letters, cut it out around the stitching using a pinking shears.

I have no idea where or when I bought that burlap ribbon, but it matched, so I glued my letters to it and hung it.

Have a Fun Fall Friday!

Wow! This week is flying by! I'm still mainly working on wedding projects, but trying to squeeze in a few Fall things in between. I made a banner for the front door this week that I'll show you on Friday and I did get Jordyn's wrap bracelets done last week, too.

Old Belts to Wrap Bracelets

Most of the time when I buy new dress pants, they always come with a skinny belt, which I never wear. I never throw them out, though.

Here's why (besides the fact that I'm a hoarder):

They make great wrap bracelets!

The best part is that to make them is one of those crafts that you can do in 5 minutes or less.

You start by taking your belt and wrapping it a couple of times around your wrist and then cutting it off to the size you want. Your length really depends on how many times you want to wrap the bracelet.

To finish the cut end, I used a jewelry clamp. I really don't know the official name for it, but I think it's a ribbon end clamp.

I used my Crop-a Dile to punch holes in the end, but you could use a regular small hole punch or even a nail to make your new holes.

That's all there is to it.

You now have a bracelet to match every pair of dress pants you own!

Have a Happy Friday!

Old Sheets to Rag Rug

I've wanted to make rag rugs like this for a long time and never got around to it. After seeing this one from Artistic Endeavors 101, that's going to change. I love her idea of using dye on old white sheets.

Fall Chalkboard Plaque

Steph from A Time For Seasons found the most unique thing to paint with chalkboard paint, a tree.
Perfect for Fall!

We've got a tree that was just taken down in the backyard. I know what I'm going to do with a little part of it now.

Clear Vinyl Football Purse

Greg and I are going to the Chiefs game on Sunday and with the NFL rule about bags and purses, I needed a vinyl purse.

I didn't have time to order one, so I whipped one up myself last week.

I didn't know if or how this was going to work out, which means I didn't write down any dimensions as I cut and put it together. The zippers are 9", maybe that gives you some idea.

Anyway, here's the Cliff Note (do they still make those?) version of what I did.

I started by putting a zipper in the front to hold our tickets.

By the way, I found the clear vinyl at JoAnn's.

The handle is extra long to make it a cross body bag.

The strips I used for the top and to put the handles on and the zipper in were cut 10".

I then sewed the Chiefs top to the vinyl and assembled it all like you would a tote with a flat bottom.

I know that's clear as mud and I'm sorry. After Brandon & Christina's wedding, I'm going to make another one and this time I'll write everything down.

In the meantime...

Are you ready for some football?!!!
