It's a Party! #208

Welcome to the party!

Before we get to the party, I've got to tell you what Greg and I did Sunday night. We went and saw Neil Diamond in concert at the Sprint Center. Oh my gosh, he was so good! So good! So good! We had fabulous seats and Neil (yes, we're on a first name basis now) sounded just as good as he did years ago. It was awesome!

Greg went back to work today and I cleaned the bathroom, so I guess you can say we're back to real life, again. Sigh.

Did you see the features this morning? They're here if you missed them.

Link up anything you want to share with us this week. It can be your fabulous craft, yummy recipe, giveaway, shop, etc.

I'll feature the Top 5 most viewed links next Wednesday. I started a board on Pinterest where I pin all of the fabulous features. You can follow along Here.

I would love for you to follow A Creative Princess while you're here!

Simple Crochet Color Block Baby Blanket

I always crochet when I'm watching my shows at night. I can't stand to just sit, so I crochet. Because I'm watching Grey's Anatomy or Scandal, I like simple projects that don't require counting stitches. This little baby blanket is perfect for that.

I started with a chain of 100, and all the other rows are half double crochet.
I told you this was simple!

I used Yarn Bee's Soft Secret yarn in white, mist, and navy. Only 1 skein of each.

I started with the navy and when that skein was gone, I added the next color. It turned out to be just the right size for a baby or even a lap blanket.

Have a great Monday!

Poodle Skirt

Last week, Triniti's 4th grade classes at her school had an oldies concert. (How fun is that?!) They all dressed in 50's style clothes, so of course, Triniti needed a poodle skirt. I got to work.

I used the Cirle Skirt pattern from Made and the poodle applique from obSEUSSed.
(The hem is actually not crooked. I should have paid more attention to the way I hung it up!)

I used flannel for the poodle to give him a little texture.

The ric-rack is just straight stitched on, but I did lay it under the poodle as I was appliqueing to catch the end there.

This circle skirt is so fun to sew up. You have to do a little math to get it cut out, but the tutorial is great and explains it real well. There are so many cute summer fabrics out there now and I'm already working on a few more skirts for the girls with matching t-shirts. They won't be near as long as the 50's skirt, so you don't need a lot of fabric.

Have a fabulous Friday!

It's a Party! #207

Oops, I did it again. I forgot to post features this morning. Actually, I forgot what day it was this morning! Anyway, so sorry and I'll make it up to you next week with double features.

Here's a little of what's been going on around here this past week.

I, also, finished Triniti's Poodle Skirt for her concert at school. I'll show it to you on Friday.

Okay, your turn. Let's see what all you have been creating.

Cinnamon Bun Cake

For Easter I made the Cinnamon Bun Cake from Addicted to Recipes and to say it was delicious, is an understatement!

Oh my gosh, it was sooooo good!

It's best served warm, but because we had it Easter, I made it the day before and we had it when we got home from church. It just took a few seconds in the microwave and it went right back to perfection.

This will definitely be a staple any time the whole family gets together. I sure can't risk fixing it for just Greg and I, we would eat the whole thing in one day!

Crocheted Baby Football Cocoon

Brandon & Christina's baby boy will be here in July. That's right, we found out it's a little boy! My list of things I want to make for him is growing longer by the day and since July will be here before we know it, I better get busy!

I can now mark one thing off my list, I got his football cocoon and hat done.

Pinterest is full of these, but I found two tutorials that I really liked and understood. They're Here and Here and I just kind of combined them and used them both. You know, a little here, a little there.

I'm only an average crocheter and was a little afraid of even trying to tackle this.

But I was pleasantly surprised that once I got started, it really wasn't that difficult.

The hardest part I had was at the very end adding the white stitches down it. Let's not talk about how much I struggled with them. How can something that seems so simple, be so darn hard?

Little Ryker Lee is going to be so cute in his little football. I can't wait!

Have a fabulous Monday!

Summer Bucket List

My favorite part of summer is getting to spend more time with the grandkids. We all love hanging out, but we really love when we go to special places around town that you normally wouldn't go to. I've lived in Independence my whole life and had never been to the old (and they say haunted) jail on the square until last year when Jordyn, Jace, and I went.

Jace suggested this year we make a list of some of our favorite places to go so that we're sure not to forget any.

That photo was taken with the glass out of the frame. You'll see why in a little bit.

I jumped on the Silhouette to design and print our list off. I used the font Tilez. I sure thought I had everything on the page, but you can see when I printed, I cut off the very top and bottom. I spent one whole afternoon working on putting everything together, so I wasn't about to go back and change it all. Greg gets cranky when he's hungry and it was time to start thinking about dinner!

This is why I don't like taking photos with glass.
Hello, me in the reflection with the camera.

With the glass, we can use a dry erase marker and start crossing everything off as we go.
I can't wait!

Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Salad

If you're ever looking for an absolutely delicious fruit Salad that everyone is sure to love, then you've got to try this Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Salad!

I found the recipe on Pinterest here. It recommended that you make the salad the day you're serving it, but I made mine the day before, but left out the bananas until they day of. It doesn't take any time to slice them up and add them at the last minute.

This one is a definite keeper!

Owl Tote Bag

For Easter this year I made the little girls Owl Tote Bags to use for their baskets.

You all know how much I love to make tote bags, this has to be my all time favorite.

I made it using the pattern from Sarah Jane Sews. She made a darling bag, but for the tote, I changed it up a little. What I'm really saying is that because I was making 2, I went the simple way.

I didn't put the sides on these, just the front and back sewn together with canvas handles.

I appliqued the owl pieces and added the button eyes before I sewed it all up.

They're nice and big for all their treasures they need to tote around.

Have a great weekend!
