It's a Party! #212

Welcome to the party!

I'm sorry I've been such bad blogger this past week. It's been really sad around here. Our beloved dog, Gage, died last week. He was 15 and until about a month ago was doing pretty well for his age and being a big dog. He started getting a little worse each day and then the final day, everything just gave out. Anyone that knows us, knows how much we loved Gage and what a big part of our family he was. We miss him horribly and I know it will get better, but it still hurts so much.

Anyway, I just wanted you to know why I've been a little silent, but I'll be back.
(Did I sound a little like Arnold Schwarzenegger just then?)

I've been doing a lot of sewing for the new grandbaby coming in July and also, I've even done a few projects on my new embroidery machine. I'll show you everything I've done, just have to take photos.

But for now, let's party!

Link up anything you want to share with us this week. It can be your fabulous craft, yummy recipe, giveaway, shop, etc.

I'll feature the Top 5 most viewed links next Wednesday. I started a board on Pinterest where I pin all of the fabulous features. You can follow along Here.

I would love for you to follow A Creative Princess while you're here!

If you would like to grab an It's a Party button (on the sidebar) and post it on your blog somewhere, that would be great! Let's get the word out and grow this party.

Fishin' Shirts

My friend, Kelly, needed a couple of fishing shirts and I was happy to do them for her.

She sent me pictures of the two she liked that she found and I tried to get them as close as I could on my Silhouette.

I got the fishing pole and fish in the Silhouette Studio and used Britannic Bold for the font.

Let's be honest, okay? Those fins and the bobber and pole were a (I so want to say a cuss word right now, but I won't) bear to weed out!
See, Greg, I really do have a filter on my mouth.

For this shirt, I used the Grinched font and found the cute fisherman, again, in the Silhouette Studio.

Don't you love that little guy? I'm really loving the Grinched font, too.

Have a great weekend!

Another "all about that base" Shirt

Remember when I made this shirt? This time I changed it up just a little.

I'm loving this one even more because it's actually on a baseball 3/4 sleeve shirt.

I did it the same as the first shirt, using glitter vinyl and appliqued heart with baseball fabric. I did change some of the words from blue to black for Jace's team that's black and red.

Can you tell that it really is all about that base around here?
Have a great Monday!

Patchwork Crocheted Pillow

You've most likely figured out what I did with the 4 crocheted squares that I had left over when I made my Bed Runner.

That's right. It was the pillow.

Not such a subtle hint, huh?

I took the 4 squares and joined them with a single crochet stitch and also did that all the way around the squares. I then took my grey yarn and joined it to one side and started making it the same size as the front with a double crochet stitch.

I folded it over and joined 2 other sides, put the pillow form in and closed it up.
Yeah, that explanation was clear as mud, wasn't it? I hope you know what I meant.
Remember, I'm not a real crocheter, I just fly by the seat of my pants.

I'm loving the little changes to our bedroom!
Bed Runner is here.
Roman Shades are here.

Crocheted Bed Runner

I'll be honest with you, I had to google to even find out what this was actually called. You know, it's that small blanket that lays across the end of the bed in hotels.

Yeah, that. My mom and grandma always had quilts folded across there.

I don't know what it is, but I love the look of a bed with a bed runner added.

I decided to crochet mine using this Starburst Square pattern.

I made 48 squares using 4 different colors.

I laid all the squares out in the pattern I wanted and joined them with a single crochet stitch in white.

There's a little huge hint of what else I did with 4 leftover squares. I'll show you how later in the week.

I use that bench sitting there to get into that high bed every night. My dad made it for me years ago and our Saint Bernard chewed on the top of it when she was a puppy. I was furious with Sadie. Daddy thought it was hilarious. He made me another one, but I still love the "character" of that one.

Have a great Monday!

DIY Roman Shades

We needed new curtains or something for our bedroom windows. I've seen Roman Shades all over blogland made out of old mini blinds and started to make them. I got as far as hemming my fabric and then couldn't figure out what kind of glue was going to hold the plastic to the fabric in our west windows and stay attached. That sun gets crazy in the afternoons!

Then something fabulous came in the mail for me. Speed-Sew sent me this miracle fabric glue and it worked perfect!

I'm thinking that this is where I should say that that I was sent the fabric glue, but everything in this post is 100% mine. I absolutely wouldn't tell you about something if I didn't love it.

I had already hemmed all the sides by sewing them, but I totally could have glued the hems with Speed-Sew. It sticks so fast and stays where it's supposed to, even with all that sun shining in on it.

What I did was, I took the mini-blinds and cut out the string that runs down the middle, leaving the 2 ladder strings on the sides. Then I started cutting and removing all the slats, leaving just 5. I spaced the five evenly on the fabric and glued them and the top and bottom pieces with Speed-Sew. I did use clothespins to hold the end pieces of the blinds to the fabric, but they only needed to stay there for a few minutes before the glue dried.

I crossed my fingers, hung the blinds, and they worked!

See that ugly cord hanging there? Greg told me in January that he would hide it. Okay.
It's May.

Have a fabulous Friday!
